Hairball at Toyota Oakdale Theatre

Hairball is a project that was started in 2000 as a cover band. It has since morphed into the 80s rock music mega concert that we know today. Kris Vox, Dave Moody, and Drew Hart are the three lead vocalists who each will impersonate a different frontman from one of the top bands of the era. The rest of the crew is going to follow along and get in full costume to make sure that the depiction of that particular band is as accurate as possible. That means that when it comes time to sing “I Was Made for Lovin You” by Kiss, everyone on stage is going to have leather outfits and painted faces. The wigs are going to need a switch and the paint needs to come off when “Don’t Stop Believing” from Journey comes up on the set list.

One of the things that allows the band to make the show super dynamic, after all it’s a 2-hour concert, is the way they can get in and out of costume on the fly! That’s almost as impressive as the way that they sing on stage. If they’re not able to switch up from one band to the next quickly, it would create awkward, long pauses. That’s not something that’s going to happen on this night. They have their little tricks here and there to buy some time. There’s no waste in that 2-hour show, though! Speaking of the bands that Hairball impersonates, these include Van Halen, KISS, Mötley Crüe, Queen, Journey, and Aerosmith amongst others. There could be a few surprises on this November night at the Toyota Oakdale Theater.

The Toyota Oakdale Theater is one of the more comfortable venues in the country. From your padded seat, you’ll be able to almost certainly see the stage without too much trouble. Ideally, though, you’ll want to look for a spot in the middle of the theater. The second level may not open up for this event, so that’s something to keep in mind.
