Jay Wayne Jenkins, better known as his stage name Jeezy or Young Jeezy is an American rapper and musician that has been active for over two decades now. He is credited alongside rappers T.I. and Gucci Mane for pioneering the hip-hop subgenre Trap Music.
Jeezy started out in 2001 by releasing two independent albums and then went on to sign with Def Jam Recordings and released his major label debut “Let’s get it; Thug Motivation 101” which was released in 2005. This album of his went on to peak at number two on the billboard 200 and sold over one hundred and seventy two thousand copies in its first week! How Insane! This album also received double platinum certification by the Recording association of America or the RIAA. And the albums lead single “Soul Survivor” featuring AKON peaked at number four on the billboards top 100.
His second album titled “Thug Motivation 102; The Inspiration” and third album titled “The Recession” were met with the continued support and success as both albums were at the top of the Billboards top 200 charts for weeks. “The Recession” earned Jeezy a Grammy award for its lead single “Put On” featuring Kanye West. Along with his booming solo career he is also the defacto leader of the hip hop group United Streets DopeBoyz of America or the USDA which released its sole album in 2007 which peaked in the number one positions on the United stated R&B charts and the United States Rap Charts.
